Hi Everyone!
Sorry I haven't been updating and posting for a few days, the next two weeks are very busy for my as I'm preparing for two presentations, one this Saturday at my local library where I'll be kicking off the Family Art Day with a lesson delving into the world of art for a large group of K-6th graders and their families. And also, KidLitCon is less than two weeks away (!) and I'll be presenting a talk their on the evaluation of illustration and meshing together the worlds of high art and illustration, entitled: "Oh, You Mean the Caterpillar Guy?: Viewing Illustration as High Art and Using Visual Literacy Methods to Enhance Our Evaluation of It" (if you'd like to read a further description click here)
So, I just wanted to updated my Fairy Tale-A-Day log and let you know what fairy tales I've read over the past week or so, and I'm hoping to get a few posts up soon, one on The Snow Queen, Vladyslav Yerko and the possibilities of religious undertones in fairy tales and a post on that illustrator I teased you with a while ago and never got a chance to post about!

9/12-13/2012: Finished up The Snow Queen (post coming soon!)
9/14/2012: Perrault's versions of "The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood" and "Little Red Riding Hood"
9/15/2012: Perrault's "Blue Beard"
9/16/2012: Perrault's "The Master Cat or Puss in Boots", "The Fairies", and "Cinderella or the Little Glass Slipper"
9/17/2012: Perrault's "Ricky of the Tuft" and "Little Tom Thumb", reread "Blue Beard"
Oh! and part of my fairy tale class includes an great creative writing component, so I think maybe I'll post some of the work I've done so far and see what all of you think :) So far I've written a legend of my own, a poem from the perspective of the Elves from "The Elves and the Shoemaker" and a poem inspired by Blue Beard entitled "A Warning from Blue Beard's Wives".
Planning on having some of these posts up this weekend and look forward to hearing from all of you!
