Hardship, Triumph and Hope in the USSR

Just yesterday I learned of a novel that was published this spring entitled Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys.  I cannot wait to read this novel, and I hope that many more get a chance to read this story about a time in history that is not normally written about, especially for children and was long forgotten and pushed out of memory.  If you have time, watch this video below, led by the author with clips from many Lithuanians she interviewed in the research for her book:
